This week went really very well for me .I had lots of responsibilities that the MST gave me to work on in the class room. I really felt that she has started to trust me which is a very important thing in building any relationship. I experienced different things during this week which made me feel and work like a professional teacher who always thinks before making any decisions and trying as much as possible to manage to organize and work on several things.
In these two days I my main aim was to build relationships with children’s parents particularly in the sports day and guess what Sean I did reach my goal. During that day I managed to communicate with MST, TA and the children, as well as the parent who were curious to know why we are there so I was explaining to them that we are student teachers who come for Teaching practice in ECE from DWC . Most of the parents were surprised and they wish me luck in my professional teaching career, taking the initiative of interacting with the parents made the children feel comfortable to work with me which made my work more serious and enjoyable this made Mrs. murphy happy and she told me “well done miss K”. Moreover, I asked my MST if I could read a story for the children she said turned and said of course you can but I’d prefer if you do it next week so you can prepare yourself for the new inquiry unit, so my MST lent me some stories that were related to the new unit.
During the second day I saw many interesting things that I experienced. I really was amazed when I saw my MST encouraging the children by praising them say good morning in different languages for example Sara is from Palestine and she said “Koya mora”, Hilma said “Sabah el kheer”, and Mohamed said “ Bonjoor” I loved this way because I feel all children can learn from each other’s language easily and they will acquire it later. I remember that from my previous experience this is considered to be one of the PYP attitudes the Appreciation of different languages and cooperation with each other
Furthermore, I enjoyed the music and movement class of the wild day. I was singing with the children at the beginning they were surprised but later they started to laugh with me and tried to imitate my actions during the class. There is a huge difference that I experienced in both local and international schools. In the local school there wasn’t any emphasize on the way of teaching the children all kinds of Key concepts and on the trans disciplinary skills. Although the government provided most of the equipment that they needed to teach the children, I think the teachers are lazy they always trying to escape their work and responsibilities and they always complain that nobody appreciates their talents I doubt if they really have any talent Sean!.
In these 2 days I tried lots of thing for example I talk to some of the parent and told them about their children and what is my role in this class room. Also I arrive early in the morning were I helped my MST in the class room set up and I am taking the responsibility of implememnting a numercy session . Moreover, I toke part in the sport day to organize the line up as well as the helping the teacher in providing children food and setting up their places for the lunch time. also i did monitor the children while the ICT lesson by providing help for indeveduals. furthermore i did interviewed the SENCO as well as attending the teachers meeting
Hi Khadija
ReplyDeleteWell done you worked really hard in this week. You showed your MST initiative and you were active in the classroom. Wish u the best :)
Wow Khadija, you really were busy this week! It seems like you've made a great start! I like the way that you have set yourself a target to establish positive realtionships this week. I also like all comparisons you have made with other methodologies and what you have seen in local schools. I'm sure there are some talented teachers there too!
ReplyDeleteHi khadeja am having the same impression that you have about the school, I really like this school and our MST are very kind and helpful..I think that's a relief for you :) wish you all the best
ReplyDeleteI disagree with you because there are many competent teachers in local schools who can do the same things as the teachers in the international schools and maybe better. Sweet heart you can’t assume that ,because you haven’t seen all the teachers. Anyway, I liked your attitude in building positive relationships with parents and teachers. And as always keep it up!!
